Distribution Designer Opportunity at Leidos in Denver, CO

Leidos is seeking talented Distribution Designers to join our team in Denver, CO (10605 Home Office) on the MYR Master Design Build contract. This temp-to-perm role offers the chance to develop construction work packages for overhead (OH), underground (UG), and underground residential distribution (URD) systems across the client's footprint. Work includes joint use make-ready and street light projects using GIS, CAD tools, Work Management Systems (WMS), and client-specific software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design work packages for electric distribution feeders
  • Perform calculations: structural pole analysis, guying, cable pulling, demand, fault currents, protective device coordination
  • Conduct field visits, identify utility conflicts, prepare forestry requests
  • Facilitate permits, ROW acquisition, BOMs, cost estimates, customer CIAC/easements
  • Develop civil & electrical packages for 3rd party make-ready

Required Qualifications

  • 2-year technical degree or H.S. Diploma with <2 years relevant experience

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in STORMS, Katapult, ESRI, AutoCAD, PDS, GIS
  • Pole loading tools: DDS, O-Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman, LD Field
  • Strong math, Microsoft Office, NESC familiarity
  • Excellent communication for clients/teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop construction work packages for electric distribution systems using GIS, CAD, WMS
  • Perform engineering calculations including structural pole analysis, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents
  • Conduct field visits and engineering for project requirements
  • Identify conflicting utilities and prepare forestry trimming requests
  • Facilitate permits, Right-of-Way acquisition, BOM development, cost estimation
  • Handle customer advocacy including easements and CIAC calculations
  • Prepare post-construction reviews and joint use make-ready designs
