Job Description

Distribution Engineer - Join Leidos' Power Delivery Team in Allentown, PA

Leidos is seeking passionate Distribution Engineers in the Allentown, PA area to deliver exceptional electric utility design engineering. Work directly with clients to uphold our reputation for high-quality projects, gaining expertise in NESC, structural pole modeling, power calculations, GIS design, field data collection, and client standards. This role offers remote capabilities but requires commutable proximity to Allentown for in-person support across Pennsylvania.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design engineering for OH, UG, URD, and Make Ready using systems like ArcGIS, Smallworld, Maximo, and STORMS.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and client priorities.
  • Drive workflow improvements for efficiency and quality.
  • Coordinate utilities, develop complex urban designs, permits, easements, and ROW.
  • Conduct field visits for data collection in office and field settings.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years in electric utility design (utility or consulting).
  • B.S. in Engineering (ABET) or equivalent.
  • NESC proficiency; experience in structural/guys/cable calcs, protection coordination, fault currents.
  • Reliable transportation; strong communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Cost estimation, BOM, CIAC; tools like Pole Foreman, Pull Planner.
  • CAD/MicroStation; QA/QC; project management; training others.

  • Experience with structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, protective device coordination, demand/fault current calculations (experience)
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills (experience)
  • Reliable transportation for local/regional travel (experience)
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Perform design engineering for electric utility customers
  • Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, and Make Ready using GIS/WMS systems
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget of assigned work
  • Conduct scope analysis and maintain schedule adherence to client priorities
  • Initiate continuous improvement to workflow processes
  • Coordinate conflicting utilities, field engineering, permits, easements, and ROW applications
  • Perform field data collection and customer-site visits as needed
