Join Leidos as a Distribution Engineer in Denver, CO

Leidos, a trusted technology-focused solutions provider, is seeking passionate Distribution Engineers in the Denver, CO area. This role, tied to a pending contract, offers boundless opportunities to thrive professionally. Work directly with electric utility clients to deliver exceptional quality on every project, from simple to complex. Gain expertise in NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform design engineering and develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using systems like DDS, GDT, GE Smallworld, Bentley Expert Designer, and Maximo.
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and prioritize client needs.
  • Conduct field visits for data collection in office and field settings (hybrid schedule).
  • Coordinate utilities, complex urban designs, permits, easements, and ROW applications.
  • Drive workflow improvements for efficiency and high standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years relevant experience.
  • B.S. in Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent.
  • NESC proficiency and experience in structural analysis, guying/cable calcs, protective coordination, demand/fault currents.
  • Valid driver's license; strong communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Cost estimation, BOM, CIAC calculations.
  • Tools: Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc, MicroStation, CAD, work management software.

  • Proficiency with National Electric Safety Code (NESC) (experience)
  • Experience with structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, protective device coordination, electric demand and fault currents (experience)
  • Valid US driver's license and reliable transportation (experience)
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Perform design engineering for electric utility customers
  • Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using GIS and WMS systems
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget of assigned work
  • Conduct scope analysis, planning, functional tasks, and customer follow-up
  • Initiate continuous improvement to workflow processes for efficiency and quality
  • Coordinate conflicting utilities, field engineering design, complex cable/conduit projects, permits, easements, and ROW applications
  • Perform field data collection via local/regional customer-site visits
