We're hiring passionate Distribution Engineers in Richmond, VA, for a hybrid role (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) focused on electric utility design engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design engineering for Leidos electric utility clients, developing work packages for overhead (OH), underground (UG), URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using systems like DDS, GDT, GE Smallworld, Bentley Expert Designer, and Maximo.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget while utilizing tools such as Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc, and DDS.
  • Review designs with clients, perform scope analysis, and ensure schedule adherence to client priorities.
  • Drive workflow improvements for efficiency and quality in deliverables.
  • Coordinate utilities, handle complex urban cable/conduit designs, permits, easements, and ROW applications.
  • Conduct field data collection during customer-site visits, thriving in both office and field environments.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years relevant experience; BS in Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred) or equivalent.
  • Electric utility design experience with NESC proficiency.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis, guying/cable pulling calcs, protective device coordination, demand/fault currents.
  • Excellent communication skills and reliable transportation for reimbursed travel.

Preferred Proficiencies

  • Cost estimation, BOM development, CIAC calculations; MicroStation, AUD, job estimating software.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills (experience)
  • Reliable transportation for local/regional travel (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Perform design engineering for electric utility customers
  • Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using GIS/WMS systems
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget of assigned work
  • Review engineering design packages with clients
  • Conduct scope analysis and maintain schedule adherence
  • Initiate continuous improvement to workflow processes
  • Coordinate conflicting utilities and field engineering requirements
  • Perform field data collection and customer-site visits
