Join Leidos' Power Delivery Services Team as a Distribution Engineer / Designer in the Pittsburgh, PA area. We're seeking passionate professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional electric utility design engineering. Based in Seven Fields, PA, this hybrid role (~20% regional travel) offers boundless opportunities to thrive professionally while upholding our reputation for high-quality work.

Your Impactful Daily Responsibilities

Expect a dynamic mix: 10-30% remote client collaboration, 60-80% engineering/design package development, and 10% admin/planning/follow-up. Independently create work packages for overhead/underground systems, perform critical calculations (structural pole loading, guying, sags/tensions, voltage drop/flicker), review client scopes, support construction with reviews, analyze outage root causes, and navigate complex urban projects including permits and easements.

Required Background

  • 2+ years relevant experience
  • B.S. in Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent
  • Distribution project execution expertise
  • NESC proficiency
  • Valid driver's license; field/office flexibility

Preferred Experience

QA/QC, cost estimation/BOM/CIAC, tools like Pole Foreman/O-Calc/Spida-Calc, CREWS, leadership, FirstEnergy familiarity.

  • Utility reliability projects experience (experience)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license (experience)
  • Ability to travel regionally (~20%) and perform field/office work (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop design and construction work packages for overhead/underground distribution systems
  • Perform engineering calculations including structural analysis, guying, sags/tensions, voltage drop
  • Review client work and assess scope requirements
  • Provide construction support and post-construction reviews
  • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation design
  • Coordinate utilities, field requirements, permits, easements in urban environments
