Distribution Engineering Supervisor - Join Leidos in St. Petersburg, FL

Leidos is seeking a passionate Distribution Engineering Supervisor in St. Petersburg, FL, to lead electric utility design projects with exceptional quality. Work directly with clients, gain expertise in NESC, structural pole modeling, power calculations, GIS design, field data, and client standards. This role offers remote capabilities but requires commutable proximity to St. Petersburg for in-person support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical oversight for distribution systems using GIS and Work Management tools.
  • Supervise staff, QA/QC, and collaborate on schedules/quality.
  • Review designs, analyze scopes, and prioritize client needs.
  • Perform/oversee calculations for poles, guying, sags, voltage.
  • Coordinate utilities, complex urban designs, permits/easements.
  • Support construction and post-reviews for standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years distribution design experience.
  • B.S. Engineering (ABET) or equivalent.
  • NESC proficiency; structural/protective device calcs.
  • Strong communication; reliable transport.

Preferred Experience

  • Cost estimation, BOM, MicroStation, work software.
  • Leadership roles.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in NESC (experience)
  • Experience with structural analysis, guying, cable pulling, protective device coordination, demand/fault current calculations (experience)
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills (experience)
  • Reliable transportation for local travel (experience)
  • Ability to work with limited supervision (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight and support for overhead/underground distribution, URD, Make Ready, Street Light projects using GIS/Work Management systems
  • Supervise design staff and lead QA/QC efforts
  • Collaborate on client issues including schedule adherence and quality control
  • Review engineering design packages with clients and perform scope analysis
  • Oversee engineering calculations for pole loading, guying, sags/tensions, voltage drop/flicker
  • Coordinate utilities, develop complex urban design packages, permits, easements, ROW
  • Provide construction support and post-construction reviews for standards compliance
