Job Description

Join Leidos' Undersea Systems Division as a Junior Electrical Engineer

Leidos, a leader in defense innovation, seeks a Junior Electrical Engineer for our fast-paced team in San Diego, CA. Design and prototype embedded hardware for rugged ocean systems, collaborating on circuit boards, sensors, batteries, and power supplies. Contribute from concept to customer demonstrations in a mission-critical environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify challenges and recommend component/system designs.
  • Design, prototype, and test components with team leads.
  • Integrate prototypes into full-scale systems with ocean, mechanical, and acoustic engineers.
  • Perform component and system testing throughout development.
  • Research and resolve design/manufacturing issues.
  • Maintain documentation and procedures.

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen; SECRET clearance preferred.
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years circuit design/CAD (Altium, OrCAD, PADS).
  • 2+ years electronic prototyping.
  • Electronics fabrication knowledge; configuration control familiarity.
  • Experience in analog/digital circuits, firmware (C/VHDL), DSP, Linux drivers, or fiber-optics.
  • Strong communication, organization; MS Office proficiency; 40 lb lift; occasional travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of test equipment: power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers.
