Job Description

Transform Maritime Missions with Leidos UUV Innovation

Leidos seeks a dynamic Embedded Software Engineer (Autonomy) to drive firmware engineering for Uncrewed Underwater Vehicle (UUV) programs tackling critical Department of Defense maritime missions. Based in our Lynnwood, WA office, you'll join small, agile teams delivering cutting-edge autonomy solutions from concept to deployment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical firmware/embedded production support across full project lifecycles.
  • Design and implement bare-metal embedded application software and utilities for autonomous systems.
  • Develop project features from derived firmware requirements in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Contribute to challenging technical decisions, driving optimal solutions that meet mission requirements.
  • Support rigorous testing and evaluation to ensure high-quality, reliable product delivery.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Science (CS) with strong microcontroller hardware knowledge; 0-3 years experience.
  • US Citizenship and eligibility for Secret clearance.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscope, multimeter, and safe electrical/electronic systems handling.
  • Advanced C/C++ skills; basic Linux CLI, thread-safe/inter-thread communications.
  • Strong team communication for ideas, designs, and technical plans.

Preferred Qualifications

  • STM32 microcontroller expertise for embedded solutions.
  • Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, CAN Bus on bare-metal systems.
  • Familiarity with Software Design Patterns, UML (Cameo/Magic Draw), Agile (Jira/Confluence), virtualization (VMware/Docker), state machines, and code defect resolution.
