Job Description

Transform Cutting-Edge Algorithms into Real-Time Systems at Leidos

Join Leidos' Advanced Warfare Technology (AWT) division in San Diego, CA, as an Embedded Software Engineer. Protect the warfighter and national security by designing high-performance software for custom SoC hardware in agile, multidisciplinary teams. Leverage proprietary hardware-software co-design to deliver SDKs for rapid adoption of novel SoC products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, firmware, RF, and signal processing experts on embedded systems.
  • Develop C/C++ software for DSP, ARM, RISC-V across bare metal, RTOS, and Linux.
  • Interface with CSRs, validate hardware under nominal/stress conditions using TDD.
  • Author test plans, procedures, and requirements specs; document performance metrics.
  • Communicate technical APIs and results to drive mission success.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; 4+ years embedded C/C++ experience.
  • Proficiency in IDEs (VS Code, Eclipse), build tools (GCC, CMake), Git/Jenkins, Linux.
  • Deep hardware knowledge (architecture, datasheets); unit testing/TDD expertise.
  • Active Secret clearance (TS/SCI eligible); strong team communication.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field.
  • Experience with high-performance signal processing on custom SoCs.

  • Read datasheets and write low-level C code for CSRs/hardware
  • Build and execute validation test plans under stress conditions
  • Apply test-driven development methodologies
  • Document performance against data/control-plane requirements
  • Communicate APIs and results to internal/external engineers
