Join our team in Houston, TX as an Engineering Drafter, developing construction work packages for electric distribution systems (OH, UG, URD) using GIS, CAD, WMS, and client tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design work packages for 12kV-35kV systems: overloaded transformers, joint use, voltage conversions, reliability upgrades.
- Conduct calculations: structural pole analysis, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, protective device coordination.
- Manage BOM development, cost estimation, forestry trimming, permits, ROW acquisition, easements, and CIAC.
- Handle major underground designs, make-ready, and urban cable/conduit projects.
- Maintain quality control, safety practices, and adherence to scope, schedule, budget.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma + 1+ years experience; AA with 2+ years or BS in Engineering Technology/Geography preferred.
- Distribution design experience: voltage conversion, automation.
- Excellent communication; civil/electrical packages in dense urban settings.
- Field/office work readiness.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in DDS, SAP, Microstation, ESRI, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PLS-CADD, GIS.
