Position Overview

Join the National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program as a UAS Specialist with Air Traffic Control background. Support FAA's Central Service Center (CSC) Operations Support Group (OSG) Unmanned Aircraft Systems Team in Fort Worth, TX. Communicate effectively with FAA Headquarters, field offices, Air Traffic Operations, Technical Operations, System Operations, and National Airspace System users. Leverage FAA orders expertise for assessments and recommendations in a collaborative team environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Handle SUA management, UAS operations, TFRs, procedural waivers, and DCPs.
  • Prepare COAs or Waivers for UAS operations.
  • Participate in UAS Workshops.
  • Review FAA/DoD MOA UAS operations and notifications.
  • Coordinate UAS missions with facilities for active COAs.
  • Support Commercial Space, Emergency Planning, and Situation Room functions.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA + 8-12 years experience (or equivalent ATC/pilot experience).
  • 10+ years FAA ATC in Enroute or Level 10+ Terminal Facility.
  • Research, evaluation, and recommendation skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency; staff document preparation.
  • FAA Public Trust eligible (US Citizen/Green Card, 3+ years US residency).
  • Up to 10% travel.

  • Prepare Certificates of Authorization or Waivers for UAS operations

  • Review and coordinate FAA/DoD Military Operations Area (MOA) UAS operations and notifications
  • Coordinate between UAS proponents and facilities for active COAs
  • Support tactical functions including Commercial Space, Emergency Planning, and Situation Room
