Engineering Tech II - Towed Systems Support at Leidos

Join Leidos as an Engineering Tech II on the Towed System Intermediate Maintenance Activity (TS IMA) team in St. Marys, GA. Provide critical direct fleet support for towed acoustic systems on US Navy submarines and surface ships, including 24/7/365 worldwide casualty assistance (CASREP). Handle shipping/receiving, warehousing, government property administration, and asset tracking in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform towed array module physical inspections, electrical testing, troubleshooting, assembly, and pier-side installation/removal in all weather or warehouse settings.
  • Travel on short notice within CONUS or overseas for surge support at other TS IMAs to meet Navy schedules.
  • Work occasional overtime and qualify as Towed Systems IMA technician through on-the-job training.
  • Interact professionally with Navy personnel, Government officials, and civilian contractors; pursue Pier-Side Supervisor qualification for advancement.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision using electronic test equipment, power tools, and perform light mechanical maintenance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited technical institute/apprentice program in electronics or Navy 'C' school equivalent + 2 years test/repair experience.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment and handheld power tools.
  • Obtain interim Secret clearance pre-employment; valid driver's license; lift 40lbs; pass background/physical for truck operation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior US Navy service on platforms with towed sonar (e.g., AN/BQQ-5/6, AN/BSY-1/2, SQQ-89).
  • Forklift operation, light mechanical maintenance, Microsoft O365 familiarity, Fiber Optic Certification.

  • Qualify as Towed Systems IMA technician via on-the-job training and interact with Navy/Government teams
