What You’ll Do

  • Own staking: Survey and precisely mark utility poles, underground power lines, equipment, and joint-use assets for safe construction.
  • Conduct Pole Loading Analysis ensuring NESC/client standards for structural integrity and clearances.
  • Perform field inspections, gathering high-quality data for design packages.
  • Translate field conditions into designs for overhead/underground systems in neighborhoods, commercial developments, and improvements.
  • Collaborate with permitting agencies, ROW experts, crews, forestry, and partners.
  • Support construction to completion with QA checks.
  • Investigate outages and propose reliability enhancements.
  • Split time: ~20% field with regional travel, rest in-office for design/documentation.

What You Bring

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, GIS, or related field (required).
  • Experience in staking, field data collection, pole loading (plus).
  • Strong MS Office skills, communication, valid driver’s license.
  • Power utility background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the staking process: survey and mark new utility poles, underground power lines, equipment, and joint-use assets
  • Perform Pole Loading Analysis to ensure structural integrity and NESC/client clearance requirements
  • Conduct field inspections and gather electrical design site data
  • Translate field conditions into engineering design work using client standards
  • Design overhead distribution and underground power line systems
  • Partner with permitting agencies, right-of-way experts, field crews, and joint-pole partners
  • Support construction through completion with post-construction QA checks
  • Investigate outage causes and propose engineering-based remediation
