Join Leidos as an EPC Substation Designer

Leidos Engineering seeks a skilled Substation Designer for remote/teleworker role in the US, creating high-voltage substation design packages (12kV-500kV). Part of the EPC Solutions Organization in Power Delivery Services, you'll support public and investor-owned utilities with comprehensive engineering for transmission, distribution, substations, and lines nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop or revise electrical layouts, foundation plans, sections/elevations, conduit/grounding layouts, and control building drawings.
  • Produce electrical schematics, wiring designs, and bills of materials.
  • Review vendor equipment drawings and collaborate with civil engineers.
  • Perform calculations, apply client/national/state standards, and enhance team processes.

Required Background

  • 3+ years substation physical/electrical design with CAD on utility projects.
  • Expertise in MicroStation, AutoCAD (2D/3D), Autodesk Inventor SDS; steel sizing experience.
  • Strong analytics, detail orientation, and teamwork in multi-discipline settings.
  • EPC/design-build experience and Associate's degree preferred.

  • Develop/modify substation electrical layouts, foundations, sections, conduits, grounding, and control building drawings
  • Prepare electrical schematics and wiring design drawings
  • Create complete bills of materials for electrical equipment
  • Review vendor/manufacturer equipment drawings
  • Collaborate with civil engineers and project teams
  • Assist in process/procedure development for efficiency
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and apply standards
