Lead Facilities Mechanical Engineering at Leidos

Leidos seeks an elite Facilities Mechanical Engineer to spearhead design, maintenance, and configuration management of mission-critical building mechanical systems in Springfield, VA. Drive innovation in air handlers, chillers, boilers, pumping systems, and complex infrastructure for high-stakes environments. This role demands technical mastery, creative problem-solving, and leadership in dynamic, secure facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end mechanical design and development from concept through production.
  • Produce and review AutoCAD design documents, submittals, and site-specific specifications.
  • Partner with electrical, systems, software, and manufacturing teams to meet functional and environmental requirements.
  • Perform rigorous engineering analyses to validate designs under real-world conditions.
  • Maintain comprehensive site documentation for ongoing operations.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and control system issues, implementing effective corrective measures.
  • Champion compliance with building codes, energy standards, and industry regulations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering +12 years experience (or Master’s +10 years); equivalent experience considered.
  • 10+ years designing HVAC, plumbing for commercial/industrial/government facilities.
  • Expertise in load calculations, ductwork, piping, equipment selection.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; PE license or eligible within 1 year.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and FMCS familiarity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing control systems.
