Leidos is seeking a Field Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team in Central Pennsylvania. This role offers a blend of field inspections, engineering design, and collaboration across electric utility disciplines. Ideal candidates are local to the Altoona, Harrisburg, or State College areas and ready for regional travel to customer sites.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
- Deliver engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to verify standards compliance.
- Perform root cause analysis for outages and develop mitigation strategies using engineering principles.
- Conduct on-site inspections, then return to the office for design work and calculations.
- Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field and forestry leaders, and 3rd-party pole owners.
Required Qualifications
Level 1: High school diploma + 6+ months relevant experience. Level 2: High school diploma + 1+ years experience; Associates in engineering technology preferred. Must handle physical demands like walking 1+ mile daily, swinging a 3lb hammer, and working outdoors. Strong MS Office skills, communication, and ability to thrive in team or solo settings essential.
