Join Leidos as a Field Service Engineer in Killeen, TX

Leidos seeks a skilled Field Service Engineer (FSE) for the Radio Frequency In-Transit Visibility (RF-ITV) program supporting NORTHCOM and the US Army's PEO Enterprise Logistics Information Systems. Based on Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos), this role involves 50% travel within CONUS and potentially OCONUS/international sites. Leverage your IT expertise to maintain the world's largest in-transit tracking infrastructure for military cargo across the Defense Transportation System.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, upgrade, and maintain RFID hardware/software, including Field Data Units (FDUs), interrogators, and Iridium modems.
  • Ensure 97% operational readiness for RF-ITV nodes using tools like ITV Portal, ISS, and Global Helpdesk.
  • Conduct site surveys, training, and briefings as a subject matter expert collocated with Army commands.
  • Manage GFE lifecycle, resolve outages per SOPs, and recommend logistics process improvements.
  • Configure systems with Windows OS, RFID apps, security policies, and patches.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s with 5+ years or Associate’s with 7+ years experience.
  • Active Secret clearance and DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle, climbing ability (25+ ft), and intermediate IT skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • RFID hardware/software experience with NTG, PDK, and TIPS-Write.
  • Knowledge of active RFID protocols and DoD logistics.

  • Intermediate computer hardware/software troubleshooting skills (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Support Next Generation Tags (NTG), Portable Deployment Kits (PDK), and TIPS-Write software
  • Provide training, briefings, and expert advice to US Army commands on Fort Hood
  • Ensure 97% Operational Readiness Rate for RF-ITV read nodes and resolve outages per SOPs
  • Perform site surveys, installations, de-installations, and deliver government reports
  • Manage GFE assets lifecycle including security, documentation, RMA, and disposal
  • Analyze DoD logistics processes and recommend RF-ITV system enhancements
