Job Description

Join Leidos as a Human Health Risk Assessment Scientist

Leidos seeks an experienced Risk Assessment Scientist to lead human health risk assessments for environmental projects. Work remotely or from offices in Reston, VA; Twinsburg, OH; or St. Louis, MO. Interface with project managers, senior staff, and teams across Leidos offices. Excel in a collaborative environment with strong communication and organizational skills. U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident required for government site access.

Key Challenges

  • Develop conceptual site models, select toxicity values, calculate risks, and analyze uncertainties.
  • Author risk sections for work plans, RI reports, FS, PP, and ROD.
  • Support ecological risk assessments and interpret sampling data.
  • Handle diverse tasks and travel periodically.

Required Education & Experience

  • BS/MS in relevant field + 4/2 years in human health risk assessments.
  • Expertise in EPA guidance, CERCLA processes, risk calculations via spreadsheets.
  • Data management, stats (UCLs, ProUCL), data validation knowledge.
  • Federal regulator experience; MS Office proficiency.

Desired Qualifications

  • PFAS/radiological risk experience; ecological assessments.
  • RCRA/CERCLA knowledge; federal/state regulator work; PhD preferred.

  • Ability to access U.S. Government installations (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct human health risk assessments including conceptual site models and uncertainty analysis
  • Author risk sections for technical reports (RI, FS, PP, ROD)
  • Assist in ecological risk assessments
  • Evaluate environmental sampling data for chemicals
  • Collaborate with project teams and travel as needed
