Leidos is seeking a mid-career to senior-level Infrared Engineer to join our high-performing government/contractor team in Chantilly, Virginia. Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with government and contracting organizations to model IR sensors and optical components.
  • Review acquisition documents, requirements, and support full life-cycle design and operations.
  • Conduct IR propagation and interference analysis for optimization in challenging electromagnetic environments.
  • Evaluate IR sensor advancements, including optical systems, signal processing, laser systems, multispectral/hyperspectral imaging, and system integration/calibration.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams, solve highly complex problems, and present technical findings across all organizational levels.

Required Qualifications

  • BS with 12-15 years or MS with 10-13 years of relevant IR engineering experience.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance (polygraph highly desired).
  • Proven experience in IR technologies: optical systems/lenses, signal processing/image analysis, laser systems, multispectral/hyperspectral imaging, and system integration/calibration.

Desired Skills

  • Advanced degree in a technical domain.
  • Operational support experience.
  • Ability to identify design improvements and formulate performance-enhancing alternatives.
