Join Leidos as a Kubernetes Engineer – Remote Opportunity
Leidos Digital Modernization Sector seeks an expert Kubernetes Engineer for the US Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC) Kobayashi Maru program. Work fully remote to deliver resilient Kubernetes solutions for software development, testing, security, and production deployment across 14 teams and thousands of users in test, IL4, IL6, and classified environments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Securely configure Kubernetes clusters; tune performance with metrics dashboards (Prometheus/Grafana).
- Lead lifecycle management, troubleshooting, RCAs, and SRE metrics/SLOs for containerized services.
- Design/deploy HA clusters on cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP/OCI) and on-prem; manage network traffic.
- Automate with IaC, CI/CD, Helm charts; integrate Istio, ELK for observability.
- Implement security (RBAC, policies); optimize scaling/resources; ensure patching/compliance (NIST/CIS/FedRAMP).
- Collaborate in Agile: standups, sprints, retrospectives; mentor juniors.
Basic Qualifications
- BS/STEM + 8+ years or MS + 6+ years; Active DoD Secret Clearance (US Citizen).
- 8+ years Kubernetes engineering (distributed systems); 2+ years SRE.
- CKA, CKAD, KCNA, or equivalent certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s in CS; advanced EKS/AKS/GKE; hybrid cloud integrations; cloud-native storage/networking/security.

- Lead lifecycle mgmt/troubleshooting/RCAs; integrate observability (Prometheus/Grafana/ELK)
- Collaborate on DevOps workflows, upgrades, DR planning, NIST/CIS/FedRAMP compliance
- Mentor juniors in Agile/SRE practices for US Space Force Kobayashi Maru
