Job Description

Launch Your Legal Career at Leidos: Law Clerk I

Join Leidos in supporting the Office of the Pardon Attorney (OPA) within the Department of Justice. As a Law Clerk I, you'll play a pivotal role in the clemency process, assisting DOJ attorneys in gathering critical data for presidential pardon and commutation recommendations. This position offers hands-on experience in a high-stakes, mission-critical environment in Washington, DC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Screen, review, analyze, and sort incoming electronic and hardcopy mail/correspondence.
  • Electronically request Bureau of Prisons reports and extract data to populate the IQ case management system.
  • Scan, prep, unitize, and file petitions for commutation and pardons.
  • Process and upload petitions to IQ system and shared network drives.
  • Issue code data into IQ and maintain routine electronic file organization, including backups.
  • Compile and organize documents for attorneys evaluating clemency petitions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Law degree or enrollment in ABA-accredited law school with 1+ year completed.
  • Minimum 1 year hands-on litigation experience.
  • Sound knowledge of federal/state courts, legal research, and tools like LEXIS/Westlaw.
  • Familiarity with ESI tools, eDiscovery procedures, and computer applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging).
  • Proven communication skills for inter-agency collaboration.
  • US Citizen eligible for Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Government or litigation support experience.
  • Trial experience.
  • Active security clearance.
