Have a passion for airborne systems? Leidos' Small Airborne Effectors Division is at the forefront of designing, developing, testing, and producing small to medium airborne missiles, unmanned vehicles, and payload effectors for defense customers. We're seeking a dynamic Lead Electrical Design & Integration Engineer at our Huntsville, AL campus to lead multidisciplinary teams through the full product lifecycle—from R&D to production.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, analyze, and integrate hardware, firmware, and software solutions for avionics, payloads, and mission systems.
  • Test and debug in lab and field environments, including hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
  • Architect real-time systems for flight hardware, sensors, ground vehicles, and control systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on requirements, architecture trades, and innovative problem-solving.
  • Oversee procurement, prototyping, and transition to manufacturing.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering (ABET-accredited) + 4+ years or Master’s + 2+ years relevant experience.
  • Proven skills in electrical design, circuit simulation, integration, troubleshooting, schematics, PCB layout, and SMT.
  • SECRET clearance (active or obtainable); excellent communication; team collaboration; 10% travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • RF/switching power design, field testing, sensor instrumentation, flight hardware, radio/GPS/INS, rapid prototyping, requirements-based engineering, technical leadership.
