Lead Electrical Engineer - Huntsville, AL

Join Leidos' Defense Sector Electrical Systems Department as a Lead Electrical Engineer in Huntsville, AL. Work on advanced hardware for aerospace and military systems including ground/air vehicles, missiles, radars, and space applications. Thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment spanning the full hardware lifecycle from concept to post-delivery support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to scale LRUs from low-rate initial production to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Review engineering designs and test data, providing expert feedback and direction.
  • Oversee Special Test Equipment (STE) integration into production workflows.
  • Manage component obsolescence and support V&V testing with compliance artifacts.
  • Drive failure investigations through FRACA committees and present to leadership/customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (ABET-accredited); 8+ years in electronics design/test.
  • Proven experience with analog/mixed-signal PCBs, RF assemblies, and lab instrumentation.
  • Strong team communication; Secret clearance eligibility; Huntsville-area residency or relocation willingness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Electrical Engineering; knowledge of radar/comms, MIL-STDs, Windchill PLM, MATLAB.
  • Project management experience in defense hardware production.

  • Experience with analog/mixed-signal PCBs or RF/microwave assemblies (experience)
  • Ability to obtain/maintain Secret security clearance (experience)
  • Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville area (experience)
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Preferred) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transition LRUs from low-rate to full-scale production
  • Review designs/test data and provide direction to engineers
  • Oversee Special Test Equipment (STE) development/integration into production
  • Contribute to proposals with estimates and technical artifacts
  • Manage electrical component obsolescence across product lifecycle
  • Support validation/verification testing and compliance documentation
  • Facilitate closure of test failures/non-conformances with engineering/manufacturing
  • Lead Failure Review and Corrective Action committees
  • Present to leadership/customers in meetings, IPRs, and CDRs
  • Integrate LRUs into larger systems via system design collaboration
