Lead Observability Data Scientist at Leidos

Join Leidos Digital Modernization Sector as a Lead Observability Data Scientist in a fully remote role from any U.S. location. Work within the Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) on enterprise observability telemetry using advanced analytics, machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI.

Key Impact

Analyze logs, metrics, traces, events, and platform signals to predict risks, prescribe solutions, and drive Agentic AI observability. Collaborate with engineers, operations, and stakeholders to transform telemetry into actionable insights using tools like Splunk, Datadog, Cribl, SolarWinds, and Langfuse.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop predictive AIOps models for anomaly detection, forecasting, early warnings, and health scoring.
  • Perform cross-signal correlation to pinpoint degradation drivers and accelerate diagnosis.
  • Prototype agentic AI for triage, enrichment, clustering, summarization, and recommendations.
  • Extend observability platforms for feature engineering and hypothesis validation.
  • Build scalable data pipelines for high-volume telemetry.
  • Evaluate models against operational metrics like MTTR and monitor for drift.
  • Deliver clear communications with measurable business impact.
  • Ensure compliance with responsible AI and governance standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in relevant field + 12+ years experience.
  • Expertise in observability analytics with high-volume telemetry.
  • Advanced Python and ML libraries.
  • Proven predictive analytics in production.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on with Splunk, Datadog, Cribl, SolarWinds, Langfuse.
  • OpenTelemetry, SRE practices, Generative AI applications.
  • Streaming platforms like Kafka, Spark.

Salary range: $131,300 - $237,350. Ideal for AIOps veterans delivering scalable analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operationalize predictive AIOps models for anomaly detection, forecasting, incident warning, and service health scoring
  • Correlate logs, metrics, traces, events with topology, deployment, and business signals to reduce time-to-diagnosis
  • Prototype agentic AI workflows for triage, signal enrichment, event clustering, and next-best-action recommendations
  • Integrate analytics with observability tools like Splunk, Datadog, Cribl, SolarWinds, and Langfuse
  • Engineer data pipelines, ensure data quality, and operationalize models with performance monitoring
  • Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders
  • Align solutions with security, privacy, governance, and responsible AI standards
