Lead Software Engineer - Hypersonics Programs at Leidos
Join Leidos Defense Systems in Huntsville, AL, and lead cutting-edge embedded software development for hypersonic systems. Make a real impact on national security missions in 'The Rocket City' with a collaborative onsite team focused on Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) software.
Primary Responsibilities
- Direct coding and coordination of embedded software, firmware, ground support, test equipment, SWIL/HWIL across programs.
- Lead hypersonic GNC software development and integration with sensor hardware like FPGA, DSP/ARM boards, PCI/VPX busses.
- Drive full software lifecycle: requirements flow down, trade studies, architecture design, hardware selection, integration & test.
- Collaborate with signal processing experts, FPGA designers; mentor junior engineers.
- Implement CI/CD with Jenkins/GitLab, security testing, static analysis, test automation using Python/Java/Xray.
- Model performance in MATLAB, debug complex issues, maintain architecture documentation, communicate progress effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Software Engineering/Computer Science (ABET-accredited); 8+ years experience or Master’s +6 years.
- US Citizenship; DoD Secret Clearance eligible.
- Expertise in Python, Java, Rust, C/C++; GitLab/SVN; Agile/Scrum.
- Proven team leadership in engineering environments.

- Implement CI/CD, security testing, test automation; model performance in MATLAB
- Debug issues, maintain documentation, communicate with cross-functional teams
