Lead Transmission Line Engineer at Leidos

This senior leadership role in our Transmission Line team offers the chance to manage dynamic projects for major U.S. utilities, designing overhead and underground systems from 34.5 kV to 500 kV using NESC, ASCE, ACI, and NEC standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple design teams across project phases including PLS-CADD modeling, structure loading, and procurement.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team through training and performance management.
  • Drive business growth via client liaison, proposals, and RFP responses.
  • Oversee project portfolios with proactive management of scope, schedules, and budgets.
  • Foster innovation, quality control, and streamlined processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (Civil preferred); 10+ years experience (BS) or 8+ (MS).
  • Expertise in PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE; strong communication and business acumen.
  • Team leadership passion; onsite work and travel possible.

Desired Skills

  • Supervisory experience; PE/EIT; TOWER/LPILE proficiency; MS in Structural Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Direct multiple design teams on transmission projects
  • Develop and mentor engineering team
  • Supervise staff including timesheets and performance reviews
  • Create RFP/RFI/RFQ responses and proposals
  • Manage project portfolio for scope, schedule, and budget
  • Drive quality control and continuous improvement
  • Liaise with clients for business development
  • Delegate tasks, forecast workloads, and recruit talent
  • Participate in Transmission Line Section leadership
  • Apply standards like NESC, ASCE for 34.5-500 kV projects
