Join Leidos as a Material Expediter in Port Hueneme, CA

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC), prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) for the United States Antarctic Program (USAP), seeks a skilled Material Expediter for our Port Hueneme facility. Play a vital role in shipping and receiving materials destined for Antarctica's remote stations like McMurdo, Palmer, and South Pole. This on-site, full-time position demands physical stamina and precision in a fast-paced logistics environment supporting world-class polar science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate inbound/outbound shipments from suppliers and customers efficiently.
  • Inspect and verify cargo matches orders, ensuring accuracy.
  • Package and secure materials for ocean containers, trucks, or Air Force pallets per regulations.
  • Operate forklifts (10k+ lbs) and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Maintain precise cargo tracking system updates.
  • Stage materials for air or surface transport.
  • Collaborate with team members and uphold safety standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years warehousing/shipping experience; transportation/supply background preferred.
  • Valid forklift certification; hazardous materials handling a plus.
  • Physical capability: lift/push/pull 50 lbs, stand full shifts, bend/stoop/kneel.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills.
  • US Citizenship; Public Trust clearance (up to 4 months processing).

Compensation & Benefits

Covered by Service Contract Act (SCA): Minimum $28.66/hour (~$59,669/year based on 2080 hours). Contribute to NSF's mission of advancing science in Antarctica through superior logistics.
