Material Handler - Chesapeake, VA

Leidos is seeking a dynamic Material Handler in Chesapeake, VA to support critical logistics operations. Primary Responsibilities

  • Inventory & Materials Management: Plan, control, and optimize stock levels while performing periodic inventories to ensure adequate shipping materials.
  • Packaging & Shipping: Execute specialized parts packaging, fabricate accurate shipping labels, coordinate special requirements, and update FAA Logistics Information System (LIS).
  • Receiving & Inspection: Inspect packages for damage, verify Purchase Orders against received parts, notify stakeholders, and maintain department files.
  • Logistics Systems & Data Entry: Perform data entry into CDLS automated Logistics Database and provide daily shipping/billing summaries.
  • Warehouse Operations: Maintain physical organization, cleanliness, support inventory activities, and interface with management to resolve discrepancies.
  • Process Improvement & Cross-Training: Identify efficiencies, implement improvements, and develop expertise through coworker cross-training for seamless coverage.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years relevant experience.
  • Physical ability to lift 40 pounds; previous warehouse experience required.
  • Forklift operation, general computer skills, FedEx PowerShip experience, Microsoft Access, OSHA standards knowledge, and inventory control expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with computer database systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
