Join Leidos Defense Systems as a Mechanical AIT Engineer

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Hypersonic Systems Assembly, Integration, and Test Mechanical Engineer to support the Multi-Service Advanced Capability Hypersonics Test Bed (MACH-TB) Flight Test Program in Huntsville, AL. Primary Role and Impact

As an integral MACH-TB team member, you will develop mechanical assemblies for diverse hypersonic technologies, interfacing directly with AIT leads, program management, military/government personnel, and multi-disciplinary engineers. Your work will drive complex test and evaluation requirements, leveraging models, simulations, analyses, tests, and demonstrations to verify missile system architectures, interfaces, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop flight test mechanical assemblies
  • Formulate test strategies and validation techniques
  • Present test plans in formal design reviews to customers
  • Collaborate in a dynamic engineering environment

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma + 10+ years mechanical experience (5+ in flight test) OR BS Mechanical Engineering + 4+ years
  • Defense systems expertise and strong communication skills
  • US Citizen with Secret Clearance eligibility; North Alabama residency or relocation willingness

Preferred Qualifications

  • DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Mechanical drawings, AIT planning, prototype production
  • Missile/hypersonic flight testing and range safety experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (experience)
  • Experience with prototype production and hypersonic testing (preferred) (experience)
  • Current DoD Top Secret clearance (preferred) (experience)

Responsibilities
