Make an immediate impact on military service members and families as a flexible, on-call MFLC Counselor. This short-term backfill role covers an existing position during leave, offering PRN scheduling with no administrative hassles like insurance filing, progress notes, or treatment plans. Focus purely on delivering proactive, solution-focused counseling in a service-oriented model.
Key Role Highlights
- Embedded support across military installations, units, families, schools, and child development centers (CDC).
- 40% outdoor duties navigating uneven terrain, stairs, and weather; 60% indoor in DoD-controlled settings, including floor-level child interactions.
- Licensure portability via NDAA allows practice nationwide with your valid independent clinical license.
Responsibilities
Provide face-to-face counseling tackling military-unique issues: frequent moves, separations, deployments. Offer presentations for child social-emotional growth, build community rapport at events, and hand off to resources as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s or higher in Behavioral Health (MS/MSW/PhD/PsyD).
- DoD-recognized licensure (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, etc.).
- Experience with adults, minors, or both in military contexts preferred.

- Experience providing non-medical counseling to individuals, couples, families, children (experience)
- Ability to work flexible PRN schedule in varied indoor/outdoor military environments (experience)
- Licensure portability under NDAA for services across U.S. locations (experience)
Responsibilities
- Deliver face-to-face counseling to military service members and families (individual, couples, family, children)
- Provide solution-focused, preventative interventions addressing military-specific challenges like deployments and transitions
- Recommend referrals to military/community resources using differential clinical skills
- Conduct presentations on social skills development and social-emotional learning for children
- Build rapport by attending installation events and supporting child development centers
