Our Airborne Systems Business Area in Huntsville seeks a talented Mid-Level Aviation Embedded Software Engineer to develop software for tactical strike, sensors, CUAS, and UAS solutions. Be part of a diverse team solving critical global challenges with robust software frameworks, mission planning tools, and mission-critical systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead conceptual design across full-stack airborne software, including embedded architecture, code implementation, peer reviews, unit testing, and integration of loosely coupled modules across distributed networks.
  • Leverage DevOps and CI/CD pipelines to develop tools, harnesses, and infrastructures for fully integrated solutions.
  • Engage in frequent direct communication with customers, end users, internal stakeholders, and team members.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent (GPA 3.0+).
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience with proven high-quality software implementation.
  • Strong competency in C, C++, Java, or Python; knowledge of IPC, multithreading, memory management, and unit/integration testing.
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • U.S. Citizen able to obtain/maintain Secret Clearance; North Alabama resident or willing to relocate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in disciplined software processes and multi-team product development.
  • Familiarity with embedded software (device drivers, BSPs, bootloaders, RTOS, HDL) and hardware (microcontrollers, SBCs, peripherals, test equipment).
  • Current Secret Clearance.
