Portuguese Instructor (Part-Time) - Chantilly, VA
Leidos seeks a skilled Portuguese Instructor for a part-time (16 hours/week) in-person role supporting a critical national security mission. Leverage your passion for language education to deliver high-impact instruction and assessments for adult learners across ILR levels 0-3.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 3–5 hours of daily Portuguese instruction tailored to diverse proficiency levels.
- Develop customized materials, training aids, and curricula meeting specific learner objectives.
- Complete sponsor-provided training to certify as a language tester.
- Conduct 3–4 proficiency assessments weekly, including OPI and translation tests.
- Teach via cultural immersion, integrating current events and cultural insights.
- Collaborate with senior instructors to uphold instructional standards and quality.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from U.S. or Portuguese-speaking institution (experience may substitute).
- 3+ years adult teaching, or 8–12 years relevant experience, or Master’s + 6–10 years.
- Teaching degree required; 35+ years recent professional teaching/translation/interpretation.
- Expertise in ILR Scale, Portuguese culture, and current events.
- Pass Leidos translation test (score 4+) and OPI (4/4/4 Speaking/Listening/Reading).
- TS/SCI with polygraph (fully adjudicated required to start).
