Job Description

Principal Research Scientist - Leidos Electronic Warfare Division

Join Leidos' Electronic Warfare Division in Beavercreek, OH, as a Principal Research Scientist supporting cutting-edge remote sensing programs. Apply expertise in SAR/RF, acoustic, EO/IR, and LIDAR to design, develop, simulate, and integrate sensor systems and data fusion solutions. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of electrical engineers, physicists, and computer scientists on detection, tracking, data fusion, classification, and Combat Identification (CID) using synthetic data AI/ML techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical projects and pursue growth in new technologies/customers.
  • Develop ATR algorithms with Python, MATLAB, C++, PyTorch; leverage AI/ML for performance gains.
  • Research sensor exploitation, signal processing, target signature modeling.
  • Perform high-level software development, debugging, and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with customers and experts to meet mission needs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s (12-15 yrs exp), Master’s (10-13 yrs), or Doctorate in relevant field.
  • SECRET clearance (TS/SCI eligible); US citizenship.
  • Expertise in Python/C++, ML/DL (PyTorch, Scikit-Learn), computer vision.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and business development skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ATR development, SAR/SAL, multi-sensor fusion, multi-static radar.
  • AFSIM experience, model V&V, GitLab/Jira.

This onsite-heavy role (75%) offers flexible hours and some remote work due to sensitive defense projects. Salary range: $131,300 - $237,350. Advance R&D in national security at Leidos.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for tasks and programs
  • Research, design, develop sensor exploitation systems including signal processing and ATR
  • Develop ATR algorithms using Python, MATLAB, C++, PyTorch for real-world applications
  • Implement algorithms iteratively to address challenges
  • Collaborate with customers on mission requirements and new capabilities
  • Develop performance models for target recognition
  • Perform software development, troubleshooting, debugging in Python/C++/MATLAB
  • Collaborate on software enhancements and integrations
