Principal Systems Engineer at Leidos

Join Leidos' Office of Technology programme as a Principal Systems Engineer, providing technical leadership across systems, digital, and product engineering for UK programmes. Based hybrid from Farnborough, Whiteley, Glasgow, or Bristol offices, with travel as required. Salary: £75,800 - £99,800.

Key Responsibilities

  • Practice Leadership: Set standards, frameworks, and champion MBSE/digital tools unification.
  • Coaching & Assurance: Mentor teams, ensure alignment with best practices and contracts.
  • Product Oversight: Lead planning, integration, test, deployment, and operational transition.
  • Technical Leadership: Guide reviews, trade studies, requirements, verification, and validation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster collaboration with customers, partners, and suppliers.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive process efficiency, risk reduction, and talent development.

Initiate projects with Leidos practices, assure bids, validate environments, and create engineering guidelines for complex programmes.

Required Expertise

  • Leadership in defence/aerospace systems engineering with MBSE and digital tools.

  • Product engineering experience in planning, deployment, cutover, and operational readiness (experience)
  • Knowledge of security standards (ISO 27001, Secure by Design, Zero Trust) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee systems engineering practices, standards, and MBSE adoption across UK programmes
  • Coach teams on tailoring engineering methodologies and provide technical assurance/governance
  • Lead product engineering integration, readiness, deployment, and validation activities
  • Conduct technical reviews, trade studies, requirements engineering, and lifecycle activities
  • Build stakeholder relationships and act as technical point of contact for systems engineering
  • Drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and capability development through mentoring
