Job Description

Make an Impact as Program Quality Manager at Leidos Defense Systems

Leidos Defense Systems Mission Assurance seeks a dynamic Program Quality Manager in Huntsville, AL, to lead quality control for cutting-edge manufacturing operations. Champion customer satisfaction through robust QC systems for electromechanical products like machined parts, assemblies, composites, welds, and flight hardware. Report to the Sr Quality Manager, manage a team of Quality Engineers and Inspectors, and drive defect reduction across Leidos sites. Occasional travel required for supplier/customer engagements.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as QC authority for issue resolution, loss reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage QC team, plan staffing, and delegate tasks based on manufacturing needs.
  • Implement metrics (process capability, control charts) to monitor system effectiveness.
  • Lead root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and statistical trend prediction.
  • Develop quality plans for all product lines and interact with customers/manufacturing.
  • Initiate Kaizen/Six Sigma initiatives and report trends to leadership.
  • Participate in audits and collaborate with DCMA/government QA reps.
  • Interface with suppliers/customers on QC problems and corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s + 5 years or Master’s + 3 years relevant experience; 10+ years QA/QC in manufacturing (15+ substitutes for degree).
  • Deep AS9100/ISO9001 knowledge and defense/aviation contract review experience.
  • Proven leadership of Quality Engineers in product-based environments.

  • Aviation/defense contract compliance expertise (experience)
  • Ability to review contracts and provide QC inputs to manuals/forms (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary quality control authority for problem resolution and continuous improvement
  • Manage day-to-day quality control personnel and plan staffing needs
  • Establish metrics like process capability and control charts for QC effectiveness
  • Lead root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvements
  • Develop quality planning for product lines including electromechanical assemblies
  • Interact with customers/suppliers on quality issues and implement improvements (Kaizen/Six Sigma)
  • Collaborate with DCMA/government QA organizations and participate in audits
  • Report quality trends/losses to senior management
