Project Manager Opportunity at Leidos

Leidos Engineering is seeking experienced Project Managers to join our Strategic Program Consulting team within the Power Delivery Solutions division. This hybrid role in New Albany, OH, supports a large electric utility client on diverse Capital Transmission/Substation projects in Central Ohio. Work alongside engineering and account managers to deliver comprehensive project management services for public-owned and investor-owned utilities nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead execution teams across Engineering, Construction, Permitting, Siting, Environmental, Cost Controls, and Scheduling for transmission/substation projects.
  • Manage portfolio performance: cost, schedule, scope.
  • Interface with clients/stakeholders for progress reports, issue resolution, risk mitigation.
  • Mentor staff, promote collaboration and learning.
  • Handle invoicing, accruals, accounts receivable.
  • Pursue business development opportunities.
  • Ensure contract compliance and quality standards.
  • Maintain stakeholder communications; identify risks/mitigations.
  • Periodic travel to Central Ohio client sites required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or related.
  • 3+ years PM experience in Electric Utility Industry (direct utility PM preferred).
  • Experience with US Electric Utilities and power infrastructure.
  • Supervisory/team building experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication skills.
  • MS Project proficiency; advanced Excel (demonstrable).
  • AEP experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or willingness to obtain in 2 years.
  • Leadership in cross-functional teams.
  • PowerBI/visualization tools experience.

  • Ability to travel periodically in Central Ohio (experience)
  • PMP Certification or willingness to obtain within two years (preferred) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams (Engineering, Construction, Permitting, Environmental, Cost Controls, Scheduling) on capital transmission/substation projects
  • Own portfolio performance including cost, schedule, and scope management
  • Interface with clients and stakeholders for issue resolution, progress reporting, and risk mitigation
  • Mentor and develop project management staff to foster collaboration and learning
  • Manage monthly invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities
  • Ensure contract compliance and quality control standards
  • Maintain communication with clients, teams, subcontractors, and support personnel
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies
