Job Description

Join Leidos Dynetics as a Senior Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer

Leidos Dynetics is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented problem-solver to lead our modeling and simulation team in Charlottesville, VA. Play a pivotal role in developing and testing advanced models of aerospace systems, including air-launched weapons, ballistic missile systems, avionics, hypersonic vehicles, and guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems across diverse projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and test high-fidelity models using engineering principles, research, and provided data.
  • Lead and guide a team of engineers in creating representative flight models.
  • Document model performance rigorously against requirements and detail algorithm designs.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver compelling model demonstrations.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills to ensure efficient information flow and clear communication.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited university with 4+ years of applicable experience (or M.S. with 2+ years).
  • Proven experience with 3DOF/6DOF flight models, ballistic missiles, air-launched missiles, or hypersonic vehicles.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, C++, or Python.
  • Demonstrated team leadership to meet customer requirements.
  • Deep understanding of systems engineering processes and aerospace system interdependencies.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, attention to detail, and US Citizenship with active Secret Clearance (eligible for Top Secret).
  • Must be local or willing to relocate to Charlottesville, VA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with configuration management tools like SVN and Git.
  • Background in integrating and testing GNC algorithms.
  • Familiarity with ITASE or AFSIM simulation environments.
