Senior Data Engineer - Leidos at USSOCOM
Leidos seeks a Senior Data Engineer to lead data discovery and classification for the Zero Trust initiative at U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Illuminate 'dark data' across hyperscale cloud lakes on NIPR, legacy file shares on SIPR, and isolated arrays on Top-Secret networks. Architect deployments of BigID and NetApp BlueXP to crawl petabytes of structured (SQL/Oracle), semi-structured (logs/NoSQL), and unstructured (SharePoint/File Shares) data. Build the Global Data Inventory—a real-time map of sensitive CUI and classified intelligence—for precision protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy dockerized BigID/NetApp BlueXP collectors for air-gapped Top-Secret discovery.
- Scan enterprise databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) for PII/DoD IDs without performance hits.
- Optimize unstructured crawls on NetApp NAS, QNAP, SharePoint with throttling.
- Integrate Microsoft Purview for AWS S3, Azure Blobs, Data Lakes inventory.
- Train ML classifiers for USSOCOM data types (mission names, op codes) to cut false positives.
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI clearance, Master’s in technical field, 10+ years experience, CompTIA Security+ CE. Preferred: Microsoft Purview, Regex, ETL, USSOCOM networks, CKA, Azure Data Engineer, BigID certs.

- Map structured data in enterprise databases for PII and sensitive indicators without performance impact
- Configure crawling for unstructured data in file shares and SharePoint with optimized throttling
- Integrate cloud data inventories from AWS S3, Azure Blobs, and Data Lakes via Microsoft Purview
- Tune ML classifiers with mission owners to identify USSOCOM-specific data and minimize false positives
- Build Global Data Inventory for Zero Trust initiative at USSOCOM
- Ensure 100% visibility of dark data without degrading network performance
