Job Description

Lead Growth for Leidos Defense Sensors Business Area

Leidos, a leader in innovative defense solutions, seeks a Senior Director, Growth to drive executive leadership for the Defense Sensors Business Area within our Defense Systems Sector. This role oversees a multi-billion-dollar pipeline (>$3B) supporting U.S. Army (PEO IEW&S, PEO M&S, Army Aviation & Missile Center), U.S. Air Force, and commercial customers. Design, develop, and sustain advanced sensor, radar, processing, and ESAF systems while delivering operational mission expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all business development, capture, proposal, and growth strategies.
  • Partner with VP of Program Integration Growth to execute near- and long-term strategies.
  • Serve on Business Area Leadership Team with P&L ownership.
  • Manage senior-level customer relationships and engagements.
  • Develop growth tied to technology investments and IR&D.
  • Drive disciplined pipeline, bid decisions, and PWin maximization.
  • Oversee proposal execution and executive reviews.
  • Mentor BD team and manage talent development.
  • Provide oversight of B&P, IR&D investments.
  • Forecast and report growth performance.
  • Advise on pursuits, gate reviews, and risks.
  • Evaluate M&A and partnerships.
  • Support staffing and recruiting for growth.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in science/engineering + 15+ years senior leadership, or equivalent.
  • Experience leading BD/capture for defense portfolios.
  • Executive relationships in U.S. Army/Huntsville community.
  • Knowledge of missions, acquisition, funding.
  • Access to key customers/partners.
  • Proven wins in complex captures.

  • Provide executive leadership for BD, capture, proposal, and growth strategy activities
  • Define and execute growth strategies aligned with customer priorities and enterprise objectives
  • Lead senior-level customer engagement and relationship management
  • Drive pipeline development, opportunity prioritization, and bid decisions
  • Oversee capture and proposal execution for strategic opportunities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing BD organization
  • Forecast, track, and report growth performance against goals
  • Support M&A, strategic partnerships, and investment decisions
