Senior & Lead Transmission Line Engineers

Join Leidos' dynamic team solving challenging electric transmission problems in a fast-paced environment. We seek multiple Senior and Lead Transmission Line Engineers for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead and underground systems design for major U.S. utilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design transmission lines using NESC, ASCE, ACI standards for voltage conversion, new capacity, and infrastructure replacement projects.
  • Conduct engineering analyses and prepare bidding documents, plans, specifications, material procurement, and construction packages.
  • Review PLS-CADD models, foundations, materials, plan/profiles, and construction packages.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, proposals; communicate with clients and multi-disciplinary teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Mid-Senior: BS Civil/Mechanical Engineering + 4+ years transmission design experience.
  • Lead: BS Civil/Mechanical Engineering + 8+ years transmission design + 2+ years leadership.
  • Both: NESC/ACI/AISC/ASCE knowledge; PLS-CADD/POLE expertise; LPILE/FAD Tools; MS Office proficiency.
  • Team player with independent work ability; up to 10-15% travel possible.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE License or EIT.
  • GO95 standards, construction management experience.
  • PLS TOWER, MicroStation, ProjectWise, Mathcad, AutoCAD.

Work & Compensation

  • Mid-Senior Level: 4+ years in electric utility transmission systems design (experience)
  • Lead Level: 8+ years in electric utility transmission systems design with 2+ years leadership/mentorship (experience)
  • Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, ASCE code requirements (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or EIT certification (preferred) (experience)
  • Experience with GO95 standards (preferred) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Engineer on HV/EHV overhead and underground transmission line design projects
  • Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI standards in engineering and design of electrical systems
  • Perform engineering analyses, prepare bidding documents, plans, specifications
  • Prepare material procurement and construction documents
  • Review full transmission line designs including PLS-CADD models, foundations, plans/profiles, construction packages
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
  • Interface with clients, project teams, environmental, permitting, and construction personnel
