Join Leidos as a Senior Operations Tech in Chantilly, VA

Are you an organized, detail-oriented professional passionate about safeguarding critical systems? Leidos Multi-Domain Solutions (MDS) division seeks a Senior Operations Technician to lead operations, maintenance, and repair of vital building systems in a large, complex facility. Leverage your expertise in mechanical and electrical systems—HVAC, central plants, generators, power distribution, and building automation systems (BAS)—to ensure seamless, safe operations. With strong troubleshooting and leadership skills, you'll drive mission-critical uptime.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical distribution (transformers, MCCs, UPS, substations), pumps, generators, power systems, and BAS.
  • Monitor performance using control panels, gauges, and BAS interfaces.
  • Respond swiftly to alarms, breakdowns, and emergencies with corrective actions.
  • Analyze data to detect inefficiencies or early degradation.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and corrective repairs.
  • Lead and mentor Junior Operations Technicians.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for inspections, repairs, and logs.
  • Enforce OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards.
  • Coordinate with departments during outages and emergencies.

Basic Qualifications

  • TS/SCI w/ Poly clearance required.
  • Night shift availability.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years automotive/heavy equipment maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, cooling, electrical wiring.
  • Read/interpret manuals, diagrams, diagnostic tools.
  • Hand/power tool proficiency for mechanical work.
  • Preventive/corrective maintenance experience (brakes, valves, alignments).
  • Strong troubleshooting and safety practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership/mentoring experience.
  • Quality control, energy efficiency, safety background.
  • CMMS or diagnostic software familiarity.
  • DOT-compliant vehicle inspections.
  • Technical specs, parts procurement knowledge.
  • Project management in maintenance/fleet.
  • EPA Section 609 certification.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs
  • Lead and guide Junior Operations Technicians
  • Maintain documentation for inspections, repairs, operational logs
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, company safety standards
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams during outages and emergencies
