Join Leidos as a Senior Operations Technician in Chantilly, VA

Leidos Multi-Domain Solutions (MDS) division seeks a Senior Operations Technician to safeguard critical building systems in a large, complex facility. Leverage your mechanical and electrical expertise in HVAC, central plants, generators, power distribution, and building automation systems (BAS) to ensure uninterrupted operations. This leadership role demands sharp troubleshooting, safety focus, and the drive to mentor juniors while maintaining peak efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair infrastructure: boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical transformers, MCCs, UPS, substations, pumps, generators, and BAS.
  • Monitor performance using control panels, gauges, and BAS interfaces.
  • Swiftly address alarms, breakdowns, and emergencies.
  • Analyze data to identify inefficiencies or degradation.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and corrective repairs.
  • Lead Junior Operations Technicians in tasks and troubleshooting.
  • Document inspections, repairs, and operational logs meticulously.
  • Comply with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally during outages and emergencies.

Basic Qualifications

  • TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance required.
  • Night shift availability.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years automotive/heavy equipment maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, cooling, electrical wiring.
  • Technical manual and diagram interpretation skills.
  • Hand/power tool proficiency for mechanical work.
  • Preventive/corrective maintenance experience (brakes, valves, alignments).
  • Strong troubleshooting and safety practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership/mentoring experience.
  • Quality control, energy efficiency, safety background.
  • CMMS or diagnostic software familiarity.
  • DOT-compliant vehicle inspections.
  • Technical specs and parts procurement knowledge.
  • Project management in maintenance/fleet upgrades.
  • EPA Section 609 certification.

  • Analyze operational data for inefficiencies and early degradation
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs
  • Lead and guide Junior Operations Technicians
  • Maintain documentation for inspections, repairs, and logs
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams during outages and emergencies
