Senior Project Manager Electric Utilities at Leidos

Leidos Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Strategic Program Consulting team within the Power Delivery Solutions division. Located in Boston, MA, this role supports a large electric utility client with a diverse portfolio of capital projects across the Northeastern US. Ideal candidates must be based in the Northeastern United States for periodic travel to client offices and project sites throughout New England.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams in electric distribution projects, encompassing Engineering, Construction, Permitting, Siting, Environmental, Cost Controls, and Scheduling.
  • Manage portfolio performance, overseeing cost, schedule, and scope to ensure successful delivery.
  • Interface with clients and stakeholders to resolve issues, report progress, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor project management staff, promoting collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Handle monthly invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable processes.
  • Pursue business development opportunities to drive organizational growth.
  • Ensure compliance with contracts and maintain quality control standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive Project Management or Operations experience in the Electric Utility Industry; direct utility experience preferred.
  • Proven experience with US Electric Utilities and electric power infrastructure projects.
  • Supervisory experience in team building and talent acquisition.
  • Strong leadership, communication skills, and ability to travel regionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP Certification or willingness to obtain within two years.
  • Electric Distribution Project Management experience.
  • Success leading cross-functional teams and experience with PowerBI/visualization tools.

  • PMP Certification or willingness to obtain within two years (preferred) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead electric utility project execution teams across Engineering, Construction, Permitting, Siting, Environmental, Cost Controls, and Scheduling
  • Own overall portfolio performance including cost, schedule, and scope management
  • Interface with clients and internal stakeholders to address issues, report progress, and mitigate risks
  • Mentor and develop project management staff to foster collaboration and continuous learning
  • Manage monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable processes
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and quality control standards
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders including clients, teams, subcontractors, and support personnel
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies
