We're seeking a Senior Relay Settings Engineer for our Framingham, MA team to lead utility substation and renewable energy projects. Thrive in a diverse, fast-paced environment with hybrid/remote flexibility (2-4 days/week in office, US residency required, travel as needed).

Key Responsibilities

  • Solve complex substation engineering challenges and conduct quality reviews on relay settings.
  • Develop relay settings (4.16kV-500kV) including set points, IEC61850 logic diagrams, configuration files, and documentation.
  • Perform coordination studies and fault analysis using Aspen OneLiner or Siemens CAPE.
  • Collaborate with protection engineers, clients, and cross-disciplinary teams (Substation, P&C, Civil/Structural).
  • Support full project lifecycle from planning through construction.

Required Qualifications

  • BSEE with 4+ years (Senior) or 8+ years (Lead) relay settings experience.
  • Expertise in microprocessor relays (SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB) for lines, transformers, buses, capacitors.
  • Proven skills in protective relay coordination, schematics interpretation, and relay logic implementation.
  • Strong communication, time management, and ability to work independently under deadlines.

Preferred Skills & Growth Opportunities

  • Familiarity with AcSELerator QuickSet, EnerVista, MiCOM, PTC MathCAD.
  • NERC compliance, QA/QC experience, technical report writing.
  • Pursue PE/PMP certifications, mentorship, and specialized training in power delivery.

  • Strong engineering, interpersonal skills, attention to detail (experience)
  • Proficiency in interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay logic (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare relay settings from 4.16kV through 500kV including set points, logic diagrams, configuration files, and documentation
  • Solve challenging substation engineering problems and perform quality reviews on relay setting packages
  • Conduct protective relay coordination studies and fault analysis using Aspen OneLiner/CAPE
  • Create logic diagrams for IEC61850 substations and implement control/protection schemes
  • Collaborate with protection engineers, clients, and remote teams across project phases from planning to construction support
