Leidos, a top-ranked leader in power delivery services by Engineering News-Record (ENR Top 10 T&D and Power Firms), seeks a Senior Substation Physical Engineer to drive innovative solutions for electric utilities. Work on high-impact projects from 12kV to 500kV, integrating renewable energy into the grid. Leverage your expertise in digital logic, AC/DC circuits, and substation design in a hybrid role (3 days/week in-office).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of substation physical projects with strict adherence to scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety.
  • Design and QC drawings: one-line, three-line, plan-section, foundation, grounding.
  • Create/check BOMs and conduct grounding/lightning protection studies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients; attend site visits.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related + 4+ years substation physical design experience.
  • Strong communication, analytical skills; self-starter able to thrive independently or in teams.
  • Proficiency in relevant software; travel willingness.

Responsibilities

  • Execute substation physical projects at voltages from 12kV to 500kV
  • Perform quality control checks on substation physical design projects
  • Design and review substation drawings including one-line, three-line, plan-section, foundation, and grounding drawings
  • Create and verify bills of materials for substation physical components
  • Attend site visits at customer locations
  • Collaborate with design teams, engineers, designers, and CAD technicians using client standards
  • Maintain compliance with project scope, schedule, budget, quality control, and safety practices
