We're seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to design critical protection and control systems for substations at voltages from 12kV to 500kV. This remote/teleworker role (preferred in Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin) offers 10-20% travel and exposure to renewable energy integration into power grids.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design relay one-lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, and wiring.
  • Develop BOMs and perform QC checks.
  • Support full project lifecycle, including construction assistance.
  • Apply NESC and client standards while collaborating across disciplines.

  • Experience executing substation protection and control projects at 12kV to 500kV (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred (experience)
  • US Citizenship with ability to pass DOE background check (experience)
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills (experience)
  • Proficiency in substation drawings (one-line, three-line, AC/DC schematics) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design relay one-line, three-line AC schematics, and DC protection schematics
  • Develop panel layouts, wiring designs, and bills of materials
  • Perform quality control checks on wiring designs
  • Provide full project lifecycle support from scoping to implementation and construction support
  • Apply National Electrical Safety Code and client standards to designs
  • Collaborate with designers/drafters to produce required project drawings
  • Interface with clients and internal teams to meet project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Travel to customer sites and office as needed (10-20%)
