Leidos is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our dynamic PowerDelivery team in downtown Chicago (hybrid work model). Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design of transmission lines using NESC, ASCE, ACI standards for voltage conversion, new capacity, and replacement projects.
  • Conduct engineering analyses, develop PLS-CADD models, and review full designs including foundations and construction packages.
  • Prepare bidding docs, plans, specs, material procurement, and construction documents.
  • Scope projects, build budgets/proposals, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and clients.
  • Travel up to 10-15% as needed; client office work possible.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in civil/mechanical engineering + 4+ years transmission design experience.
  • EIT certification; expert PLS-CADD/POLE proficiency; LPILE/FAD Tools experience.
  • Strong NESC/ACI/AISC/ASCE knowledge; team communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • PE License; PLS TOWER, MicroStation, ProjectWise, Mathcad, AutoCAD.
  • Construction management; GO95 standards.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License (Preferred) (experience)
  • GO95 standards experience (Preferred for applicable regions) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead and underground transmission systems
  • Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI standards to engineering and design projects
  • Perform engineering analyses for voltage conversion, new capacity, and infrastructure replacement
  • Prepare bidding documents, plans, specifications, material procurement, and construction documents
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
  • Interface with clients, project teams, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel
  • Collaborate in team environment and work independently as needed
