Join Leidos as a Senior Transmission Line Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our dynamic PowerDelivery team. Work remotely or hybrid from Florida or Georgia (ideally near Orlando) on challenging electric transmission projects for the nation's largest utilities. Outthink, outbuild, and outpace the status quo in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead and underground transmission systems.
  • Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other standards to voltage conversion, new capacity, and infrastructure replacement projects.
  • Conduct engineering analyses, prepare bidding documents, draft plans/specifications, and develop material procurement/construction documents.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals while interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams including clients, planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management.
  • Review full transmission line designs: PLS-CADD models, foundations, materials, plan/profiles, and construction packages.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering + 4+ years in electric utility transmission design.
  • Expertise in PLS-CADD, POLE, Microsoft Office; knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, ASCE.
  • Leadership experience supervising teams; strong communication for clients and project teams.
  • Ability to work independently or in teams; occasional travel or client office work possible.

Preferred Skills

  • PE or EIT license.
  • Experience with PLS TOWER, Bentley ProjectWise, Mathcad, AutoCAD, LPILE/FAD Tools.
  • Construction management support.

  • EIT or PE License (preferred) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design HV and EHV overhead/underground transmission systems for major utilities
  • Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI standards to voltage conversion, new capacity, and replacement projects
  • Perform engineering analyses and prepare bidding documents, plans, specifications
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
  • Interface with clients, project teams, environmental, permitting, and construction personnel
  • Support construction management and material procurement
