Join Leidos as a Signal Processing Engineer in San Diego, CA

The Undersea Systems Division (USD) at Leidos is at the forefront of technology, designing, demonstrating, and deploying solutions for complex remote sensing challenges faced by Department of Defense customers. We're seeking an entry-level Signal Processing Engineer to join our San Diego office, offering an exciting chance to contribute to system development in maritime remote sensing, physics, sensors, prototyping, algorithms, software, statistics, machine learning, and AI.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work under weekly mentorship and with peers on data analysis, algorithm development, documentation, and software implementation support.
  • Test and document findings, sharing via software repositories, ticket systems, or wikis.
  • Participate in sea and lab test events, handling test records, reports, and briefings.
  • Engage with maritime defense and security operations to aid the warfighter.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Signal Processing, Physics, Electrical Engineering, AI/ML, or related field.
  • Eligibility for TS Clearance.
  • Basic algorithm development in Matlab or Python; machine learning experience/training.
  • Understanding of signal/image processing, mathematics, and physics.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills; mission-focused mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in remote sensing, underwater acoustics, UUVs, or oceanographic instrumentation.
  • Software development in C/C++.
  • Firmware development in Verilog/HDL.
