Join Leidos as a Software Engineer in Transportation Solutions

Leidos Transportation Solution division within Health & Civil sector seeks a skilled Software Engineer for the UK NATS Flight Data Processing (FDP) Evolution project. This initiative delivers enhanced FDP capabilities to replace the current operational system for the UK NATS organization. Be part of a dynamic team driving mission-critical aviation technology.

Position Details

Locations: Gaithersburg, MD (primary); also available in Eagan, MN or Egg Harbor, NJ. Hybrid model: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote from home office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain source code individually and collaboratively.
  • Engage in daily stand-ups, release planning, and team activities.
  • Analyze complex requirements using design tools, specifications, and diagrams to create modifiable, efficient, reliable code.
  • Manage software processes, promote code reuse, and reduce costs through shared functions.
  • Author, tune, and deploy automation scripts across development, test, and production environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field + 2+ years experience.
  • Public trust clearance eligibility.
  • Expertise in OOP, C/C++, real-time high-availability systems, multi-threading, RedHat OS customization, hypervisors/VMs, CAS/hardware integration, TCP-IP/UDP/SCTP, system maintenance, source control.
  • Strong software principles, task prioritization, communication, and independent work in fast-paced settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ada programming.
  • AI/ML integration in development.
  • Test automation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct software development activities individually and as a team member, including writing and maintaining source code
  • Actively participate in daily stand-ups, release planning, and related team activities
  • Analyze complex system requirements using design tools, formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and sound engineering principles
  • Provide software process management and control during coding, promoting code reuse and cross-program collaboration to reduce maintenance costs
  • Engineer, author, tune, and document automation scripts in development environments and deploy to test/production benches
